Today, went to watch soccer live at the stadium for the first time. It's Home United vs Gombak, at Bishan stadium. Anyways, Yan Rui and I reached the stadium with the intention of buying two tickets. But when we reached, we could not find the ticket booth. When we found it, there was nobody inside. Why? Cos' he was at the gate giving out free tickets. What a lucky day for us. Heehee!
Of all the female friends I have, only one friend (Diana Ang Hui Yi) watches soccer. I used to have no interest in it too, cos' they usually only have a goal once or twice for the whole game (sometimes even none!), so it can then be quite boring. Initially I started only because I wanted to accompany Yan Rui for something he enjoys, but now I'm learning to appreciate it...
When we watched it on the TV, the soccer players look very small. But still, there are strategy and skills involved. What I enjoy most is listening to Yan Rui answer patiently to my endless questions about what is going on, and the fun of cracking jokes about the game.
After the live game today, I've gained a new perspective about soccer. I now see it as a form of art, the beauty in the way it's played. I especially enjoyed taking photos, because there's so much action for me to frame and freeze!

Unfortunately, there wasn't much atmosphere to speak of, because the audience were mostly quiet. However, many SCDF cadets (a few buses worth) were there to support their team, Home United (Yan Rui tell me one). So once in awhile, they would cheer a bit... Which sounded quite nice. So it would've been good if the whole stadium was filled with such encouraging sounds, instead of booing or even scoldings! When this player was paralysed with pain, one uncle shouted "ehh wake up laa!". Haha...
In the end, Home United scored three goals and Gombak got an egg. I guess it was kind of expected? Since Yan Rui had told me from the start that Home United is quite a strong team. Shall go and see other teams next time! The game wasn't especially exciting, but I loved the company, the cool night breeze and the happy snapping of their dance moves! :D |
